After the Storm

The view to the west.

The view to the east.

Look my chickens are at the end of the rainbow.

Of course Tiny had to do a rainbow chicken picture photo bomb. In his undies no less... oh that kid!

Camping Sunset

Keeping with the camping theme. Another perk of camping in the Outer Banks is being able to watch the sunset from our campground too!

Sunset Fishing

The weather finally warmed up today! We were out and about and I couldn't resist pulling the car over for a sunset shot. Looks like these guys had a great view of the sunset.

In my head today I kept saying "Happy cows come from California". Like that commercial always says. I have to think people who live in warmer climates year round must be much happier, but I'll take the cold snowy winters.  It makes me appreciate the beautifully warm days just that much more.  I also guess the extremely hot Summer days make me appreciate the snowy days. But still mild weather I could enjoy that too.

Either way you won't get me moving too far from my beloved beach :)

Day 8: Favorite Color

Day 8: Favorite Color

Is sunset a color? If so that is my favorite.  I love watching the sunset.  I never know what colors it is going to be.  But it is always spectacular.

This sunset was on May 5th, 2013 over Shark River.

No Lights

I have a word of advice to all bloggers out there. Never tell your boss you have a blog! Because you will feel guilty about making a post when you have a HUGE pile of work that needs to get done.  They will know you are taking a break and you won't enjoy posting as much.

Another piece of advice to new bloggers.  Never tell your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend or what have you that you have a blog.  Because they will be disappointed that you made a new blog post, but have not done the dishes, laundry or cooked a homemade meal.  Again not making your post as much fun as it should be.

Actually my boss is a big fan of my blog and he will let me know if I haven't made a post after  few days and question why, just after sending me a week worth of paperwork.

Freddy just groans at having to have peanut butter and jelly for dinner.

But I swear it isn't my blog that slows me down it is just a full life! The dishes will get done and laundry will get done, at some point, but sharing a pretty sunset sometimes is more important.  Also letting everyone know that I didn't get to see the Northern Lights just had to be done first.  Now back to my grocery list.  So maybe we don't have to have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner.

Sunset at the Duck Park

Yesterday I went to the duck park to see if I could get some pictures of the sunset and possibly the eagles, but no eagles this time.

I called the vet and they said Harley is doing great. I get to pick him up at 3:00.  I can't wait to have him back home.

Time Change

Today I officially changed back one of the clocks for daylights savings time.  We are a little behind these days.  Freddy and my father were working hard cutting up some of the trees that fell from the hurricane.  Freddy has a stacking plan so we know what will be ready to cut for next years firewood.  There is a lot more to cut up.  We'll keep working on it.

I took the boys down the street to see the sunset. It was our first time back to the duck park and we were so happy to see it wasn't destroyed.  We could tell it had been flooded, but still fine for visiting and taking pictures.  The homes behind the park however had piles and piles of garbage stacked up :(

My cousins live close to this park and their house had tons of damage.  They are working hard at rebuilding their home.  I am going to make them some pumpkin swirl bread. I wish I could help them out more.  But for now I'll help them out with food.

Dental Work

Last week I spent over three hours in the dentist chair. Fortunately I was not the patient for all those three hours.  The boys each had to go and I laid on the chair while they laid on top of me so they stayed calm so the dentist could do his thing. They were both in the chair for half an hour. Then I got to go to my dentist and spend over two hours of pure fun and excitement in the chair repairing two teeth plus filling a cavity. I got five shots of novocaine all on one side of my mouth and well to put it simply it just sucked. Seeing that huge needle coming... ugg I have to move on.

Anyway I have spent way too much time in the dentist chair. I take good care of my teeth, but they just don't seem to want to behave nicely.  I had 7 wisdom teeth. Who the heck has seven wisdom teeth. I did. Let me tell you that wasn't a fun week getting them all pulled out on one day. Then I had a route canal the day before my wedding.  Oh the memories.  Anyway I have spent many many hours in the same old chair with the same dentist for years.  Each time I visit I look at the blank wall and think to myself if I had some of my pictures hanging on the walls that could make me going to the dentist much more enjoyable.

I had no picture to look at my last visit, but I was thinking about this picture I recently took.

I don't know what there is about this picture that I like so much, but I thought I would really enjoy looking at this photograph for two hours.  I asked him if I could hang one of my pictures up in the office and he said he'd be happy to put one up.  Woo Hoo. Watch now my teeth will be well behaved and I won't go back for six months.

Pieces of Me

First off I have to say a huge congrats to my sister and brother-in-law for their healthy, happy baby boy.  I'll let them get settled into their new roles as parents before I ambush them for a photo shoot :)

So I asked the boys what they wanted to do today and they said go on an adventure.  We have recently rearranged their bedrooms and playroom and we now need to decorate them.  I asked them if they wanted to go take pictures so we can hang them up on the walls. They were so excited about it and said they wanted to see the train and airplanes. So off we went and I only took 408 pictures.  I thought about breaking up the pictures in separate posts, but instead I'll share a few from each place we went today.

But first I have to start off saying I finished my Ashby Shawl!!!
It is 100% alpaca and it took me forever, but I love it.

First we headed to Allaire State Park.

Of course we needed pictures of the trains for their playroom.

There is something so magical about a train ride.  I love sitting back and just watching the amazement in their eyes.

Then we took a hike, which ended at the playground.

Has anyone seen my baby? When did he turn into such a big boy :(

There were three weddings going on in the park. It was such a beautiful day for a wedding. The lucky couples got such a wonderful day to be married. I have no idea who these people are, but I am so happy for them and I love the yellow shoes.

After the park we headed to the airport. Where the boys enjoyed watching the airplanes and eating their lollipops.

After the airport we headed to the farm.

Blue kept a close eye on us while the boys played in the shed.

We had diner at the Circus Drive-In and then went to the river to watch the sunset.

The boys tossed rocks into the water and laughed hysterically the entire time.

Look there's a fire in the sky.

The rest of the day went as normal. Baths, books and bedtime.

Have I mentioned how much I love the weather in September?  Well I do. I wish the boys were in school in August so we could have so much fun in the wonderful weather in September.

Well it was a very good day and I think we got a few shots that will make it to the wall.

Sunset at the Pier

We headed back to the pier again tonight.  This time there was a sunset!
I really wanted to get a shot of the patio bar and the sunset for the photo contest.

It was such a pretty sunset and I loved the sailboat.  There wasn't a breeze and it was just hanging out enjoying the scenery. There was a band playing at the bar and once again they were really good.
It was just a beautiful night to be outside.  There was a mist coming off the water that showed up in a few of my pictures. It was such a pretty setting.  Freddy and I both looked at each other at one point and I'm not sure if he said it first or me, "Why hasn't there been a patio bar here before?"

10 on 10 July 2012

I am linking up with Rebekah's Ten on Ten.  I have not done this before, but my sister has and I was very excited to try it out.  I really enjoy doing this. Are you ready for our exciting day?! Don't be too excited it was a very dull day. But I'll take dull any day!  Actually I prefer it.  So I took a picture every hour for ten hours starting at 8:00.

8:00
Hey that's my bed!

9:00
Tiny at summer camp.  Brady likes to walk him in and then give him a hug and tell him to have a fun day.  It is too cute. After we dropped off Tiny we headed to the grocery store and I let Brady pick out a few special treats.

10:00
work, work, work

11:00
Brady enjoying his special treat from the grocery store.

12:00
Pick up Tiny from Summer Camp. He made a crab. He showed it to me and said, "there's a cloud, a crab, two eyes, the ocean and sand."  Too cute. He loves summer camp so much.

1:00
Brady was at school so Tiny was helping himself to Brady's special treat. But Tiny was nice enough to put some in a bowl and put them on the couch so Brady could have some when he got home.

2:00
Waiting for the bus to bring Brady home from school.

3:00

Cannon Ball!!!

4:00
Harley and I had races in the pool.

5:00
Photo shoot of my flowers from Debbie!!! I needed to get some shots of them for this weeks SHS.  I had a great time hanging out with my blogging friend Debbie the other day. She brought me flowers and this adorable vase.  Brady added a few of his own flowers.  Thanks Debbie.
ps- they looked much nicer when she gave them to me, I slacked in caring for them.

So that was it. That was my ten. But just in case you are wondering what we did the rest of the day....

Mini Golf

It was our first time playing mini golf. Tiny got a hole in one! He has mad skills.

Mini Golf was a huge success.

The sunset was looking so nice.  So we drove over to the airport to see if we could spot some planes and watch the sun finish setting.

Freddy spotted an airplane high in the sky.

I hope it is okay that I added some extra pictures to my ten on ten. I really did enjoy this and I am looking forward to next month.
