So Simple So Good

 

Happy Fourth of July!  Yesterday I had a strong urge to drink. I usually don't have an urge to go to a liquor store and buy wine, but yesterday I was in the mood to have a glass of wine. So I hit the grocery store and then the liquor store. I came home with some Blue Moon beer and some red wine.  I think I had the urge to drink because I didn't do much drinking on my trip to Vegas. I took it kind of easy on the booze while we were away since the temps were around 117 degrees and we were in the pool all day. Then walking at night (it was much cooler at night more around 102 degrees). If the heat didn't drain you the alcohol did.  We saw so many drunk and dehydrated people getting taken away.  Gladly I was not one of them.  So all excited I got home and cracked open an ice cold beer then took a look at Tiny and he was head to toe covered in hives. Yikes.  So now as a responsible parent I put the beer down and tried to figure out what was causing the hives.  I have no clue what caused them, but we did run to the pharmacy to get some Benadryl and his hives did go away. 

 

So today I actually have the day off of work.  It is sunny and very humid. From the comfort of my air conditioned house it looks nice outside, but once you're outside it is gross. Too hot and too humid.  But still the boys were bugging each other and we needed to get out of the house.  Since I am still not sure what caused Tiny's hives I didn't want to go far from home or to the beach.  He usually doesn't do well with the heat and sometimes he doesn't cool off well at the beach, so we decided to go to the reservoir. 

 

So after the morning of no hives as soon as we got to the reservoir he was covered with hives again. Sigh.  So on the way home we saw the sky divers and the boys begged to stop at the airport. So we made a quick visit. I was surprised to see all the boats at the airport. I guess they are misplaced since hurricane Sandy.  So many docks are still being rebuilt.  But the kids loved seeing boats and airplanes.  One of the banner planes had a sign that read "So Simple So Good".  For some reason Blogger doesn't want me to post those pictures, so much for so simple so good.  I think it has to do with not updating my credit card. Do you pay a monthly fee for Google? It keeps charging me every month for storage fees. I feel like it is a scam, but now I can't post all my pictures...sigh. So much for so simple so good.

 

But while I'm stuck inside I am having fun planning some camping trips. We are planning on going to Maine at the end of the summer.  I found a campsite that does "The Amazing Race" on Bar Harbor in Acadia National Park.  It is a three day race around the island. You have to find clues and visit all different places on the island. You get to do it in teams and we plan on going with friends of ours so it sounds like it could either be really fun or really dorky. I'm not sure. But seems like a good way to get out and explore the island.  Have you been to Acadia National Park in Maine? Do you have any tips for us?

First off I have to say a huge congrats to my sister and brother-in-law for their healthy, happy baby boy.  I'll let them get settled into their new roles as parents before I ambush them for a photo shoot :)

So I asked the boys what they wanted to do today and they said go on an adventure.  We have recently rearranged their bedrooms and playroom and we now need to decorate them.  I asked them if they wanted to go take pictures so we can hang them up on the walls. They were so excited about it and said they wanted to see the train and airplanes. So off we went and I only took 408 pictures.  I thought about breaking up the pictures in separate posts, but instead I'll share a few from each place we went today.

But first I have to start off saying I finished my Ashby Shawl!!!

It is 100% alpaca and it took me forever, but I love it.

First we headed to Allaire State Park.

Of course we needed pictures of the trains for their playroom.

There is something so magical about a train ride.  I love sitting back and just watching the amazement in their eyes.

Then we took a hike, which ended at the playground.

Has anyone seen my baby? When did he turn into such a big boy :(

There were three weddings going on in the park. It was such a beautiful day for a wedding. The lucky couples got such a wonderful day to be married. I have no idea who these people are, but I am so happy for them and I love the yellow shoes.

After the park we headed to the airport. Where the boys enjoyed watching the airplanes and eating their lollipops.

After the airport we headed to the farm.

Blue kept a close eye on us while the boys played in the shed.

We had diner at the Circus Drive-In and then went to the river to watch the sunset.

The boys tossed rocks into the water and laughed hysterically the entire time.

Look there's a fire in the sky.

The rest of the day went as normal. Baths, books and bedtime.

Have I mentioned how much I love the weather in September?  Well I do. I wish the boys were in school in August so we could have so much fun in the wonderful weather in September.

Well it was a very good day and I think we got a few shots that will make it to the wall.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 8.5.12

Once again I am joining along with Ashley's Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Here we go.

1. Going Back in Time

Ha ha me and Tiny.  I didn't have a good camera when my boys were young :(  I would borrow my father's camera to do beach portraits for people.  I was going through some old shots this week and saw someone must have grabbed the camera and took a shot of Tiny and me.  I probably only have about a dozen pictures of me with the kids. This picture makes me sad I didn't have a camera to take pictures of them when they were itty bitty.

2. Something Just for Me & 3. The Best Part of My Day

My boys and going to the beach.

After dinner we usually head down to the beach.  The sun at that time is much easier on Tiny and we love just playing.

4. Night & Day

I could stay at the beach all day and night.

5. Look Up

We brought our lunch to the airport and watched the planes, skydivers and banner planes.  If you've never seen how the banner planes get the banners attached, now you will.  They have a long cable with a hook off the back of the plane.

They swoop down to catch the banner.

They miss a lot so we watch and wait to see if the banner lifts off the ground.

He did it!  Now off to the beach.

I am linking up with Rebekah's Ten on Ten.  I have not done this before, but my sister has and I was very excited to try it out.  I really enjoy doing this. Are you ready for our exciting day?! Don't be too excited it was a very dull day. But I'll take dull any day!  Actually I prefer it.  So I took a picture every hour for ten hours starting at 8:00.

Tiny at summer camp.  Brady likes to walk him in and then give him a hug and tell him to have a fun day.  It is too cute. After we dropped off Tiny we headed to the grocery store and I let Brady pick out a few special treats.

Pick up Tiny from Summer Camp. He made a crab. He showed it to me and said, "there's a cloud, a crab, two eyes, the ocean and sand."  Too cute. He loves summer camp so much.

Brady was at school so Tiny was helping himself to Brady's special treat. But Tiny was nice enough to put some in a bowl and put them on the couch so Brady could have some when he got home.

Photo shoot of my flowers from Debbie!!! I needed to get some shots of them for this weeks SHS.  I had a great time hanging out with my blogging friend Debbie the other day. She brought me flowers and this adorable vase.  Brady added a few of his own flowers.  Thanks Debbie.

ps- they looked much nicer when she gave them to me, I slacked in caring for them.

So that was it. That was my ten. But just in case you are wondering what we did the rest of the day....

Mini Golf

It was our first time playing mini golf. Tiny got a hole in one! He has mad skills.

Mini Golf was a huge success.

The sunset was looking so nice.  So we drove over to the airport to see if we could spot some planes and watch the sun finish setting.

Freddy spotted an airplane high in the sky.

I hope it is okay that I added some extra pictures to my ten on ten. I really did enjoy this and I am looking forward to next month.
