Maternity Shoot Red Neck Style

So I have been doing portrait photography for a long time.  But most of it was done with film. I am slowly catching up to the times with digital.  But in my experience I have found the people I have done maternity shoots for are the most grateful.  So I've learned to push the subject on anyone I know that is pregnant. I offer to take maternity shots and hesitantly they accept my offer and years later they are always coming back to me to thank me.  I guess it is because all of my maternity shots are of me in sweats, but still I am grateful I took pictures every 4 weeks.

I had some friends that were photographers that offered to take pictures of me when I was pregnant and I declined all the offers. But now I know better and if people tell me no I take their pictures anyway and tell them they can do whatever to the pictures, but I tell them to trust me in two years down the road they will be grateful.  Trust me they are always grateful.  So all you pregnant people out there. Take pictures!

There is a story to be told of the life growing inside of you.

So for all of you that think maternity shoots have to be serious... they don't!  Have fun with it.  Because kids are so much fun.

My little sister is having a baby and what could be more fun than a very funny maternity shoot with all of his little cousins?  Not much. Make sure your volume is on.

I have to give a huge thank you to Sarah for helping me out putting this video together.
I have Photoshop Elements and it didn't support the tutorials she went out of her way to send me, but non-the-less I got it put together.

and to prove we do have a serious side you can see my other pictures of my sister's maternity shoot by clicking here

She's Having a Baby

Yesterday I took some pictures for my sister and brother-in-law.  They are expecting their first baby very soon. My boys are thrilled to have a new cousin on the way.  My older sister has three boys, I have two boys and now my younger sister is expecting a boy.  We clearly don't know how to make girls and if we did I'm not sure what we'd do with them.

So apparently since my nephew didn't have a shirt on the rest of the boys decided to take their shirts off and pose for a redneck family maternity photo shoot.

More from this photo shoot for another day.

Tutorial Tuesday- Watermarking

This week's tutorial is about Watermarking.

I have been watermarking my images since I saw a picture of my son on an Italian blog! My sister came across it about a year ago. The picture was of my son sitting on my couch in my living room holding an alpaca toy I knitting with yarn I spun from my parents' alpacas.  I could possibly understand it if it was a product I had purchased and they shared, or if I had been somewhere and posted it and they used it.  But there was nothing about the picture that had anything to do with the Italian blog.  Fortunately it was a very nice article (so I am told I couldn't read it because it was in French).

So I was very glad to see Tuesday Tutorial was about Watermarking. I know not everyone does it and I'm glad to see support of it for my online images.

I take so many pictures for friends and family that I never share online. I don't want them to be upset if someone steals them and uses them in other places.

I have taken a few precautions to safeguard my images. I watermark them and I have also put a code on my blog so that you can not right click the images and copy them.  If I can find the tutorial how to do it I'll post it here. But right now I can't find it and I have to head out.

Since I do a lot of pictures for my parents farm I make up a logo for the farm too.

I did a photo shoot for a friend of mine who is having twins.  I played around with some
different watermarks.

I got the idea for the above shot from here.

Thanks Ashley and Sarah I 'm going to miss TT.
