Day 15: Technology

Day 15: Technology

The Edit Me Challenge is back! Woo Hoo. I love the Edit Me Challenge. I have learned so much from it and I look forward in participating with it again.

The Challenge involves editing a picture. Everyone edits the same picture for the month then we link back to the Challenge Page.  It is amazing to see how many edits can be done on one picture.

So with the technology of the computer I have edited the picture provided by Stephanie.

Here is my edit.

Here is the original.

I of course didn't write down everything I did. Of course it would have been grand if I did, but well I was rushing and I'll give you a few of the things I know I did.

adjusted levels
added a gradient map
made a screen layer
added a sepia toning
make a lighting adjustment layer
did a quick brush on a 10% occupancy to clean up any noise

This picture made me think of a little girl playing hide and go seek or peek-a-boo. I thought it would be fun to convert to black and white and give it a vintage feel.  I like the overall feel of the finished edit.  The Challenge goes through the end of the month so swing by and try it out for yourself.

Edit Me Challenge

This for the Edit Me Challenge the photo was provided by Rebecca.  As soon as I opened this picture it was just sweetness overload.

Here is my edit

I rotated the image so she was staring right at you.  I added another hand and boot.
Then I added a few photo filters (magenta and deep red I think).  I did a bunch of other tweaking to give this a slightly edgy look to go with her awesome jacket.

Here is Rebecca's original

Edit Me

Last week I missed the Edit Me Challenge because I was too busy. This week again I am too busy, but I snuck in a very quick edit.  The original image was provided by Amanda.  She lives in the Bahamas. I'm so jealous.

So the only thing I saw wrong with the picture she provided was that I wasn't there in person!  I have been to the Bahamas myself in 2004 and I'd love to go back.  My favorite part of the Bahamas is the incredible blue waters. There was absolutely no way I was going to crop out any of that beautiful water from her picture.  Again I'm so jealous.  The water here in New Jersey gets nothing like that.

So I cleaned up the beach and moved the kayaker. I thought the yellow kayak was a little too much so I used the color replacement brush to tone it down a little bit.  I added a Cyan photo filter and did some minor level tweaking. I'm sure I could go further with the edit, but I have too much else to do on my plate.

Thanks Amanda for providing the picture and giving me a little slice of heaven to look at for my lunch break.

My Edit

Here it is without the words. Oh that pretty water I want to go there now.

Here is the original picture provided by Amanda.

Swing by the Edit Me Challenge for all the other edits.

Edit Me Challenge

The Edit Me Challenge is back! I'm so excited. It is one of my favorite memes. I missed last weeks challenge, but I here for this week.

The photo was provided by Sarah and here is my edit.

I didn't really keep track of what I did to get the finished look, so I'm sorry I am not sharing my steps. I kind of winged it.

Here is the original photo.

Edit Me Summer Show Off- Freckles!

I followed a tutorial on how to make freckles pop. Since Freddy has just a few of them.. hee hee and Tiny has such cute ones on his nose. I couldn't wait to try it out.

I used Photoshop Elements 8.0.
First I converted to B&W
Adjusted my levels to lighten up the picture and I increased my blacks
I added a blue tint with an occupancy around 10%, then flattened my image
I copied my background layer and selected my top layer
I selected Filter > Other > Highpass and then selected soft light
I did this a second time with a higher radius, I didn't make masked layer like the tutorial (because I don't know how)
I flattened my image and presto freckles in all their glory.

The Before & After

Here is the tutorial I followed by Maryanne Gobble.

Edit Me Challenge Week 26

This week's picture was provided by Stephanie from Behind the Camera and Dreaming.  I'd love to have a nice explanation of how I edited this picture, but really I just kept trying things out until I got to this.  I used a screen layer and at one point converted it to black and white.  Then I added a red tint back in.  I removed the water droplets at the end.

Well enough chatting here is my edit.

and here is the original...

Be sure to pop on over to Edit Me Challenge to check out all the entries.

Edit Me- Week 25

I am participating in the Edit Me Challenge.  This week's picture was provided by Desirae from Sommerfugl.  If you have a FB and Twitter account you can check her out. I don't have a Twitter account. Maybe someday I'll get one.

So here is my edit.

Here is the original provided by Desirae

I flipped the picture over and converted to B&W.  I liked picking up the extra details in the dune from the original left side.  I added some drama by darkening up the clouds. I added a little color back into the photo and adjusted my levels.  I added some wording after searching the internet for just the right quote I gave up and used my own line.  This picture made me feel like it was a dark and stormy day and the people at the bottom of the light house were family members looking out in the ocean for fishermen fathers and husbands to come home from sea.
