Darn Hawks

Since hawks had decided to kill all my yard birds I decided I didn't like them anymore and I wasn't going to take their pictures.  But we have been hawk incident free for several months so when I saw this one at Allaire State Park today I decided I could take it's picture.  It stared me down and I tried to warn it that the branch it was sitting on was about to break and I would have laughed if it did.

While we were there was also took a train ride. The train wasn't going to leave for ten minutes. I wanted to get a cute picture of the boys sitting on the train while were were waiting. I told them to stay in their seats I was going to take a picture and then get right back on the train.  They totally panicked.  Clearly they thought I was leaving them forever.

I'm back on the train and the kids are happy again.

Tiny... ugg.

We've taken the train ride many times, but this was the first time we took it with a tour guide. He had a bunch of fun stories to share. Like how one of the trains they have there used to be owned by someone else and it had things stolen off it like the bell.  Shortly after the robbery the missing items from the train were posted on Ebay for sale specifying the exact train they were stolen it from.  As my father would say, "stupid, stupid, stupid."  The thief was apprehended and the missing parts were returned to the train.

Time to collect tickets.

Time to play in the Spring weather! Finally!!!

Allaire State Park is a great place for me to take people to do portraits.  I like to test out different lighting and backgrounds.  The boys are happy to help by making funny faces for me.  Clearly the lighting wasn't going to work, but the boys were so co-operative I couldn't resist posting their shots.

We also played "What did Purple Debbie Take Pictures Of".  I saw on Debbie's FB timeline she was at the same park earlier that day. So the kids pointed out lots of exciting things they though she took pictures of.

It was a beautiful day to get outside and play!  Well at least do farm chores in the morning, then get out to play.  I am loving this weather!

Pieces of Me

First off I have to say a huge congrats to my sister and brother-in-law for their healthy, happy baby boy.  I'll let them get settled into their new roles as parents before I ambush them for a photo shoot :)

So I asked the boys what they wanted to do today and they said go on an adventure.  We have recently rearranged their bedrooms and playroom and we now need to decorate them.  I asked them if they wanted to go take pictures so we can hang them up on the walls. They were so excited about it and said they wanted to see the train and airplanes. So off we went and I only took 408 pictures.  I thought about breaking up the pictures in separate posts, but instead I'll share a few from each place we went today.

But first I have to start off saying I finished my Ashby Shawl!!!
It is 100% alpaca and it took me forever, but I love it.

First we headed to Allaire State Park.

Of course we needed pictures of the trains for their playroom.

There is something so magical about a train ride.  I love sitting back and just watching the amazement in their eyes.

Then we took a hike, which ended at the playground.

Has anyone seen my baby? When did he turn into such a big boy :(

There were three weddings going on in the park. It was such a beautiful day for a wedding. The lucky couples got such a wonderful day to be married. I have no idea who these people are, but I am so happy for them and I love the yellow shoes.

After the park we headed to the airport. Where the boys enjoyed watching the airplanes and eating their lollipops.

After the airport we headed to the farm.

Blue kept a close eye on us while the boys played in the shed.

We had diner at the Circus Drive-In and then went to the river to watch the sunset.

The boys tossed rocks into the water and laughed hysterically the entire time.

Look there's a fire in the sky.

The rest of the day went as normal. Baths, books and bedtime.

Have I mentioned how much I love the weather in September?  Well I do. I wish the boys were in school in August so we could have so much fun in the wonderful weather in September.

Well it was a very good day and I think we got a few shots that will make it to the wall.
