Camping at North Pole

In June we stayed at North Pole Resorts in Wilmington, NY. The campground is broken into two sections called the Resort Section and the 100 Acre Wood Section. We stayed in the Resort section. It was wonderful! We have wonderful mountain views from one side of the campers and a view of the river from the other side of the camper.

Rocky really loved it too.

The kids also loved it.

Although I love getting to a campground and not leaving this trip was planned a lot around sight seeing. The entire four days we were there I felt like I was living in a post card. It was so pretty!

Driving around it seemed like the roads just dropped off!

On the day we were heading to this campground I got a text message from my mom. She said they decided to name the newest alpaca Ziggy Zaggy as in Ziggy Zaggy Ziggy Zaggy Oi Oi Oi. It just so happens that about every mile there is a ziggy zaggy sign. So I may have chanted that a few hundred times during the trip.  I couldn't get it out of my head!

Once I got home to look up where that saying came from I found this.

"It is from a German drinking song when people want to get drunk.
"Ein Prosit "
With Beer stein or glass in hand

A Salute to Your Health or Well-being!

Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit, der gemiitlichkeit
Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit, der gemiitlichkeit
(Cheer!) Eins, zwei, Drei g'suffa!
Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi,
Zicke, zacke, zicke, zacke, hoi, hoi, hoi,
Prosit

So now I guess I'll also say it when I'm drinking.

One of my favorite parts of the area we were staying at is it seemed like we were always driving next to a beautiful winding river. It was sooo pretty!!!

Just a real quick bike ride from the campground was a beautiful public beach / park.

A great place to take the dogs for a walk / run.

Nothing around this area ever seemed to be crowded. The kids had a great time playing with some of the local kids from the area at the playground and swimming in the river. We had a good time talking to the locals and finding out about good hiking and swimming holes.

Even the lampposts are pretty!

We learned the weather is very unpredictable. We found the forecast would call for storms, but they didn't always make it over the mountain. So if you go to this area don't plan your day around the weather. It changes every five minutes.

Overall we had an amazing time at North Pole Resorts. The campground was very well maintained, the staff / owners were so friendly and helpful and the views were spectacular. I still have more to post about our trip here, but I need to go pack for our next trip!

Not sure where you're from. Please keep posting camping spots with your dogs! We have a nice spot we go to with one group but they only allow dogs under 35# and both of ours exceed that.
