At the Bird Feeder & Fish Tank

I recently moved one of my feeders closer to the house.  I had hanging plants on these shepard's hooks, but the plants died and I noticed the finches kept landing on them.  So I decided to try out a feeder on it.  It was a huge hit.  Unfortunately I can't see the feeder from my desk where I work. But when I pass by the window I always look out to see lots of activity.

On Thursdays I clean the feeders out. I wash them then let them air dry.  This makes the birds nuts. Especially the cardinals.  They chirp so loud like a car alarm until I fill the feeders back up and hang them.  As soon as I hang them back up (the whole process takes twenty minutes and by the chirping of the birds it seems like forever for them) the birds are very happy and get back to eating.

Last night I decided to take some pictures of them since now that the feeders are close to the house I can take pictures from inside the house through the window.  I have only been shooting in Manual mode on my camera lately, so bare with the blurry shots.  I am getting better but these pictures were taken at dusk, so I'll blame the noise on that :)  The birds are always helpful in helping me out with my photography...

Mr. Cardinal inspecting the clean feeder.

I think it passed inspection.

A Titmouse... correct?

I am not 100% who is on the left.. I don't think the goldfinch knows either.

A mourning dove was poking around.

Two days ago I saw a hummingbird for the first time in our yard. I was so excited. I put the hummingbird feeder out and look who showed up!!!!

The humming bird checked out the titmice and then decided to go back to the nectar.

All the above pictures I took in about a 5 minute span.  I have one active feeder.  I think I might need to set up a few more. I think they really like this feeder being out in the open.

On Fridays I do the water changes on the fish tanks. I don't think I posted any pictures of my new fresh water tank set up.  I have a few starter fish and the tank is working well. I think it's time to get some new ones and I have a little more decorating to do.  I used sticks we found from the pond at my parents house. I bleached them, cleaned them, cleaned them again and I think they turned out nice. The fish really like swimming around them. I am planning on putting real plants on them.

nice move....i would much rather have birds then flowers, even if they were alive.

now, we need to move that desk, closer to the window, then you can work like i work ;))))

your shots are gorgeous, i use auto focus through the glass and do pretty well with that. lately i have been opening the window and they have not been flying off. (i keep the screen out of that window)!!

what a kind comment you left for me today, i am so happy to know you!!

They obviously don't appreciate the interruption in their feeding time! LOL! Great shots, Andee! Nice variety of birds, too. Our hummingbirds seemed to have vanished. They weren't around long.
