Remember back in the first week of January... Freddy had shoulder surgery. He has been home ever since recovering. He still has a way to go before he is fully healed and gets back to work. But the other night in proud Irish fashion, tux and all, he attended an Irish Dinner Fundraiser with some of his relatives. It is an annual tradition and so is getting pictures of the boys with him all dressed up.
Saint Patrick's Day has a soft spot in my heart. Not because I am Irish, but because it was the day Tiny got to come home from the hospital. He had a rough start and spent too many days in the intensive care unit at the hospital after he was born. I didn't even get to hold him for days. It was such a relief the night before Saint Patrick's Day when the doctor that was on rounds came to examine him and noticed his red hair and name "Shea" and the doctor declared "I can't keep this little Irish boy here in the hospital he can go home tomorrow for St Paddy's Day." It was the best news I've ever heard.
So 5 years ago today Tiny came home for the first time!
We celebrated today in the best ways we knew how. Tiny and I had lunch at Wegmans. He got to pick out all his favorite things from the salad bar, then we took the elevator to the second floor and ate at our own private table. Then we went out to and Irish Pub for dinner and Tiny danced like a proud little Irish boy. He even was asking the live band for requests. I have a feeling he would really be a hit at a wedding.
And this if for you Tiny. If you ever see him in person he will be happy to sing you the song live. Lord help me he is only 5.
