It's Raining Goodies

I made myself a new hat. It is a Yarnster and it is a free pattern from Shannon Cook. Woo Hoo for free patterns on Ravelry.  I used a skein of Madelintosh Vintage in Amber Trinket.  It was a gift from my sister for my birthday. I was instructed that I had to make something for myself.  I've been waiting to find the right pattern for it and this was the one. I love it.

It was freezing out and I really wanted to get some pictures of it outside so I grabbed my Leaves of Grass Shawl and my camera.  Oh how I love my LOG shawl.  I can spend all morning cleaning up after the alpacas and get out of my Carhart Jacket and Boggs and be all fancy in a matter of seconds.

Freddy was out in the yard collecting firewood and called up to me. Why are you looking out into the yard smiling.  hee hee. From where he was standing he couldn't see I had the camera set up and my remote shutter in my hand.  I laughed when I looked back at this picture I love how my shawl is flying away... it's a bird... it's a plane... it's a knitter.

I have said several times over the past few months that I wish yarn would fall from the sky.  I can't seem to have enough yarn to fill my knitting goals.  I don't have a stash of yarn to work from.  I find a pattern then shop for the yarn.  I do have some odds and ends around the house, but not enough for a single project.  I don't know if that is a sign of  self control or just lack of funds.  I think the lack of funds is the key.  So I can't tell you how excited I was to win some amazing knitting goodies from a Knit Along I had joined.  Oh the excitement I got from finding these goodies in my mail box.

I won a skein of yarn from Luna Grey Fiber Arts. I have been wanting to make a Fish Hat for so long and I think this yarn is going to be perfect!

I also won these beautiful Downton Abby stitch markers from The Amy Lee Show.  I got to pick what ones I wanted from the Etsy shop and I had to go with Mrs. Hughes because I love her.  I took the test on Downton Abbey of what job was right for me and I was Isobel Crawley (there weren't Isobel stitch markers available).  My relationship test said we were Lady Mary and  Matthew.  If you haven't taken the tests they are very fun. It is on the link that I have posted above under the special features tab.

I put the stitch markers right onto my Juneberry Shawl I am knitting.  Aren't they so pretty!

I also won a $25.00 gift certificate to use towards Jane Richmond's original knitting patterns. I have my eye on the Betsy hat and a few other amazing patterns.  My sisters and I booked our hotel room for the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival in May!  It is our girls get away of knitting, wine, yarn, and oh so much fun. I'm going to keep my eye out at the festival for yarn to use with Jane's patterns.

I also received a copy of the New Lines Collection from Rose Beck.  This is a collection of 4 beautiful shawls. I will be searching the Sheep & Wool Festival for yarn for these 4 patterns too!

In the mean time I'm going to go back to working on my Juneberry shawl.

If you haven't joined a knit along before I highly recommend it. Especially when you win lots of goodies :) But in honesty it is great because you learn so much. I am doing a mystery knit along right now I can can't believe all the information and education I am getting from the group. It is such a fun way to learn a lot and have so much fun!

I also wanted to add a fun game my boys have been enjoying. Since I typically don't post what I've been reading I thought this might make up for it.  (I don't read because I have terrible vision. I have to get books on audio set up so I can join in the reading fun).  Okay back to the game. My 5 year old son wants nothing to do with reading or writing, but he loves this game.

He puts the cards together like a puzzle and it spells out sentences. The boys laugh so hard and beg to play this all the time.  It has really helped Brady learn different words and he is slowing down how he speaks each word and it helps his speech so much. It is also helping him learn to read on his own.  I really love it.

Happy knitting,
~ Andee
