Red Sweater

Upon the request of Tiny I made him a red sweater. He picked out the yarn and pattern himself. I wasn't about to argue with him since he picked it out I knew he would wear it and that was what I thought was most important.  Brady's sweater I made also. I posted it last week but added a few more pictures this week.  Brady picked out the yarn for his sweater, but let me pick the pattern and I am very happy with his sweater.  I am planning on adding a button to the top of Tiny's red sweater, but I took these pictures right after I finished knitting it, so I'll add it soon.

I made a simple hat for a Christmas present.

I also made a fun slouchy hat.  I love it. I wanted to get better pictures of it today, but it was raining :(

This alpaca and arrow hat has more bells and whistles than this picture. I added a fun fuzzy border, ear flaps and a braid down the back. It really is a fun hat. I planned on giving it as a Christmas present, however Brady is insisting it is his.  So we'll see. I'll post finished pictures next week.

We are very grateful to have gotten our power back after hurricane Sandy.  However we still have lots of friends and family without power. Some of our family members are starting to rebuild their homes.  It is going to take a long time to recover from hurricane Sandy.  Our local schools are selling "Restore the Shore" bracelets for $5.00 a piece. 100% of the proceeds go towards restoring the shore and helping all the families that have lost everything from the hurricane.

Here is a picture of us and my sister Leanne with her family.  We were hooked up to a generator so we got to watch the Steelers vs Giants game.

Our family lived in our tiny family room for two weeks without power and kept warm by our fireplace.  We are grateful to have our power back, but it is heart breaking to drive down the street to see so many people still without it.  Some of the area around us are not allowing residence to return to their homes for months.  For now we are helping out by making food for friends and family that still can't live in their homes. This weekend many of our family will be helping our cousin move everything out of her home that she worked so hard on.  Her house is now unlivable.

But we are going to be stronger and better!!!! Even if the weathermen are talking about another Nor'easter for next week. Nope not going to listen to that.

So many lovely knits and really, the red sweater is awesome.
I'm glad to hear you have power back and hope others do soon. I love the idea of the bracelets. I live on the coast of SC and know the devestation hurricanes can cause to the beaches.

I'm so glad that you got power back, but I am sorry that it took so long. We have family in New Jersey and New York that lost it for about a week.

Beautiful sweaters!!

The sweaters for your boys turned out great! They both have great taste in yarn and patterns. :-) I'm glad you got your power back, but feel so sorry for all that have lost so much.

Great job on the sweaters! I bet they last longer than anything from the store, too. Fun shots of the boys!
