Yarn Along- Teacher of the Year

I made this shawl / scarf my son's teacher. She received the award of Teacher of the Year!  All the kids in the class wanted to get her a gift so we collected money. I purchased the yarn with the money collected and knitted her this shawl.  I like this pattern because this shawl can be easily worn as a scarf.  I made it out of a cotton blend purple yarn.  Mrs. Crosby's favorite color is purple!  All the kids were so excited when she opened it at class today.  They also gave her a cute flower that was decorated as a bunny. It was very cute.

A big thank you to Mrs. Crosby for being such a wonderful teacher you absolutely deserve Teacher of the Year and we all hope that when you wear your new scarf /shawl you'll always remember how you earned it.  Thanks for all that you do.

I also made this knit top / beach cover up for myself. The yarn is a superfine merino. It is made by Knitting Fever it is Indulgence 6 ply distrato.  It is a sock yarn, but I thought it worked fine for this lightweight top.  I made the pattern up as I knitted it.  The only thing tricky about this knit was figuring out how to get the colors to blend and match for the top.

I did a vertical decrease up the sides along the hips.

Ravelry notes: Andee's Sundress

I also made this newborn hat for Brady's teacher from last year. She just had a baby boy.  The yarn is again the Indulgence 6 ply Distrato.

I am joining along with Ginny of Small Things weekly Yarn Along. Be sure to visit her site and all the amazing project people are working on and check out what they are reading.
