Ausable Chasm

While we were camping in NY we went Ausable Chasm. It was amazing! I highly recommend going there. If you are going to visit Ausable Chasm I'd plan on being there for about 2-3 hours. We had such a fun time walking the very well marked paths that led us all around and down into the chasm. 

I felt like we were in a place that was billions of years old. It was amazing to hear the water rushing by and views were amazing!

Thankfully my husband brought his cell phone and was able to take lots of pictures. I didn't dare carry my expensive camera and accidentally bump it on a rock! 

They offer Adventure Trails at the chasm, but the kids weren't old enough so we stuck to the hike then raft trip.

The boys loved exploring. In fact I think we all loved it equally. Even Tiny who is terrified of boats did great. You can either take a raft or tubes down the river. We went for the raft ride. As soon as we took off it started to storm. It was pouring rain and thundering and lightning!!! Apparently our guides said it was still safe..... and we lived to tell you about it so I guess it was okay.

We really had a great time here. Your feet get wet in the raft so you can either take off your sneakers or just wear water shoes. If you are doing the adventure trail you really have to wear good footwear and if you are tubing definitely water shoes.  Pack a lunch or snack or you can get a bite to eat at the restaurant on site. Such a fun time!!!!
