Pockets!
I just finished up a modified pattern. The original pattern is called Ashby by Leila Raabe it was published by Brooklyn Tweed. I chose this pattern to knit along with the Girls in Sheep Clothing.....and a few boys too. I had made an Ashby in the past and this time I thought I'd change it up a bit. I had really wanted to join the KAL, but I also really wanted to make a cardigan. So I modified the components of the shawl and turned them into a vest. I am thrilled how it came out.
The yarn I used is The Fibre Company's Canopy Worsted in the colorway Orchid. I used 4 skeins (each skein is 200 yards). The base of the yarn is 50% baby alpaca, 30% merino, 20% viscose bamboo. I really love this yarn. For the lining of the pockets I used some stash alpaca yarn.
And I also finished (a while a go, but never took pictures).
My Big Ugly Brown Sweater
I wanted to make a sweater I could wear to the farm and get dirty and not be sad about it. Since hand knits cost so much to make.....most of the time..... I wanted an inexpensive sweater I could wear anywhere and not worry about getting ruined. Hence My Big Ugly Brown Sweater. I made it out of Berroco Vintage Chunky ... a machine washable blend :) I wear it all the time around the house. The sleeves are even (just in case you were wondering they are just wonky in this picture). It was sooooo cold when I took these pictures, BTW thank you Freddy for taking the pictures! As for pattern notes there are none at this time. I have modified much prettier versions of this that I will publish in the future. For now this one is a one of a kind.
Have a great day and keep warm!
ps- For reading I am still listening to "The Fiery Cross" it is part of the Outlander Book Series. I am obsessed with it!!!!
Also Lily wanted to say hi and she thinks I should knit her fleece into another vest for myself :)

You are so talented Andee, I love your Ashby!
I do hope you publish a pattern for your one of a kind ugly brown sweater, it looks like a perfect design to wear here in the south where we don't really need to wear a coat, but a sweater would be nice.
Love your finished Ashby vest/cardigan! Stunning! The Ugly Brown Sweater looks perfect to wear around the farm!
Both are just beautiful! I especially love Ashby. That white yarn was perfect.
Love the Ashby and Lily is looking cute!
That Ashby is beautiful and everyone needs an Ugly Brown Sweater in my opinion ;) - perfect for gardening in on cold wintery days.
These are great! Lovely work! I was hoping to make a sweater for myself next, but I might go looking for a vest pattern now!
I love both of these sweaters! Make what you will wear--however that works out. I think the brown sweater is quite nice, myself. The vest is stunning, though--all the intricate stitch work is amazing.
Oh I love both of those knits! So wonderful! I could really use some of those sweaters with the weather we have been having lately...
That vest is lovely. And though I am not in love with the color of the second, I don't think it is ugly.
Pockets rule!
just beautiful.....and the vest too!!
and that lily, what a show-off, in the snow!!!
that vest is so beautiful!! I'll be contacting you for a Mod Monday, for sure! And holy smokes, your alpacas are freaking adorable.
both of your knits are lovely, love the ashby mods and pockets!!! you won me over with that :) Love the brown sweater as well.
Lily is stunning! And I always love your knitting :-).
I'm reading Outlander too! Though I'm only on the first book. Love your mods to that pattern! It's a whole new piece.
That vest is beautiful. You did a great job modifying the pattern.
Such wonderful knitting and the pieces you made are functional too!
I really like the lines of the vest and how it has just the right amount of length to wear leggings.
