Warm and Safe

Hurricane Sandy Update from Wall Township, New Jersey-

Unfortunately but luckily that we live in a neighborhood that experiences a lot of power outages we have been well adapt to loss of power. Our neighbor has converted a portion of his house over to a generator using natural gas and out of incredible kindness he has allowed us to plug into his generator. So we have a cold  mini fridge, lamp and TV. We can charge our phones and electronic devises.

Please take a minute to go to this site and watch the video.

Much of this footage is less than 5 minutes from our house. We are so grateful to be spared, but I couldn't help but just cry as I watched the video.  I saw so many friends homes. No didn't see them, they are gone!  We were spared and had many trees come down on our property. One tree took out our power lines and pole. I have no idea when we will ever get power back.

Luckily we have a fire place and a ton of firewood so we are warm. Most of our friends and family are really cold right now.  Most people we know have generators, but there is no gas. And to get gas requires sitting in lines 3 to 4 hours long. People are just walking the streets with gas cans.

Some grocery stores are open so we can get food.  But without gas most people have no use of their generators to keep food cold.  We can't complain at all about our situation other than I have no idea when I will be able to work again.  Hurricane Sandy took away most of the houses we were working in (I work for a custom millwork shop). The houses are now gone that we were working in. GONE. There is no power at my work and right now the entire town is shut down. There are gas leaks everywhere, many people are still missing and there is no power.  It is all just so scary.

But we have our health. The alpacas made out just fine! We are spending time over at the farm, but not driving around much besides that because of the gas situations and trees down everywhere!  Our cell service is very spotty, but my land line is working and I have internet (thanks to the generator).  So if anyone needs any help contacting anyone please contact me and I'll try my best to see what I can do.

We have friends offering to come from out of state with gas. So hopefully that will help keep the generators running.  I know everyone is in need of a nice hot shower.

I cannot even imagine what you and thousands of others must be dealing with. I am glad to hear that you are safe and that the animals made it thru without injury. So grateful for wonderful & generous neighbors. Stay safe and many prayers for you and all others in harms way.

It sounds so scary :-( I hope that people are able to get gas soon to help ease the discomforts. Glad your alpacas are okay.

It's a terrible situation for you folks. I am thinking of you and glad that you are surviving on your own and were spared. Big hugs my friend.
