Looking for a Bird

Today is the official start of Summer.  The boys were beyond cranky and in need of naps.  They have never been nappers..sigh.  But after too many late nights at the fire pit and catching lightning bugs they were over tired and needed naps.  So I packed them in the car and told them, "Mommy needs to go look for a bird."  That is code word for Mommy needs to separate the two of you and drive around and sip on a cup of coffee.  Thank goodness for car seats and seat belts.  Although I must admit if they are really determined they can still touch each other.

Well my plan failed slightly because they kept asking me if I found the bird yet.  We had seen an oriole in the back yard and I really did want to find another one to get a picture of so we headed to a little park around the corner from us.  It think they said the temperature today felt like 105 degrees. It was so hot.  But we walked down by the water and saw the usually swans. I was hoping to see the Osprey or Bald Eagle fishing, but as we pulled up I saw the Osprey fly over us and onto it's nest. We were so close.  At least the people with the fancy cameras were gone.

So instead I took a few pictures and after driving around for thirty or so minutes I realized they were not going to take a nap and we went on with our day.  Now fingers crossed they are going to go to bed early and get a good night sleep.
